Windows

From The Geometry of the Last Supper by Raphaël Mouterde. It shows the perspective lines from the tapestries converging to the vanishing point. The corner of the windows are set on those perspective lines.

Did you know that in the Last Supper, the corners of the windows are positioned on the main perspective lines suggested by the tapestries?

It isn’t obvious to the naked eye but the windows are indeed inscribed within the ray of perspective lines that converge towards the vanishing point.

How much does this elegant design touch us, I wonder? Can this alignement contribute (even in a small way) to the sense of perfection one can feel in the presence of the Last Supper?

From The Geometry of the Last Supper by Raphaël Mouterde. It shows outlines on a white background of the door, windows and pediment in the Last Supper, with the perspective lines converging to the vanishing point. The corner of the windows are set on those perspective lines.
